On the job this week I was talking to one of the camera ops who just bought a HVX-200 and owns a DVX-100 too. He asked me if sound gear was getting any cheaper since cameras were comign down in price. My response that audio gear is actually going up in price because of the weak dollar to euro exchange. I also explained whether I am doing sound into a PD-150 or Cine Alta I use the same gear because that is what it takes to get good sound. I also told him that products like the G2 wireless are a great tool but a lectrosonics will always sound better to me. I wished audio gear was cheaing like everyone else but at least it doesn’t become obsolete as fast as cameras.
Mole Skin your best bet when laving someone
Once again Moleskin helped save me while laving someone today. Sometimes I go back and forth between using Moleskin or Transpore tape. However I now realize moleskin works better. More on this later It has been a 17 hour day for me today
Ambient Eumel Lav Power Supply
I picked up this little toy last week after a client requested that I do a set of sitdown interviews using a hard wired lav. It is a bit pricey at $116.00, However it is small and easy to carry. All you do is plug your lav connector into the plug and send 48p and your ready to go. What a great idea at a fair price CLICK HERE TO BUY
Happy Easter to all
I hope all those who celebrate Easter have a safe and happy day
I-Power New Product Release
I-power has just announced a new professional grade rechargeable battery the “Ipower 520 Pro” which will have higher quality control and longer life. According to Richard from I-Power USA, The biggest difference is that the 520 Pro consists of the best possible grade of Lithium and certain raw materials, and the cells are precision balanced. This also give a higher capacity, so the cells don’t work as hard, discharge less and should yield better. The existing DC-9V500 will range in actual capacity from 470mAh to 510mAh. The DC-9V520 batteries will yield 510 to 550 mAhs. Over all it equates to around a 10% increase in capacity in the 520 Pro, over the 500. Also the 520 will shut off closer to 6 volts than the 500. Tests have shown that the known problems have been overcome, but we need “real world” comfirmation, thanks Larry. This is a special order, battery, targeted at professional applications. The iPower 520 Pro will be available at participating Pro Audio dealers, in limited supply. We have an iPower Pro info site starting up, www.ipoweruspro.com.
The MSRP of the 520 will be $22.00 while the 500 will stay at $19.00. The same I-power charger will work for both batteries. I am excited and hope these new batteries will last longer. I still wish they would make a pro level charger
