Sony F3 Audio

Last week I worked with the Sony F3  for the first time. It was a simple interview shoot with some B-roll at first production resisted wanted a double system recording but after informing me that they would also be shooting with a Canon 5D I definitely wanted to record ISO tracks and a back up.  After reviewing the manual it was all very straight forward but anytime I work with a new camera the first time I always like to run a back up. The audio quality is similar to a EX 3 and better then a Z1u. I just wish it had a better headphone jack and more professional meters.

Remote Audio HighNoise Headphones

For many years I have been a die hard user of Beyer Dynamic DT 770 headphones I have always liked these headphones for there isolation and comfort. With many of my projects being in noisy locations I decided I wanted to try something with a bit more isolation. Well these headphones did not fail to impress, the isolation is excellant as well as comfort and sound quality since they use the Sony MDR 7506. I purchased two pairs one with a headset mic for my 788T cart and a 2nd with no mic for my bag work. below is what Remote Audio has to say about the headphones:

Sound mixers often find themselves in very high noise environments such as helicopters, raceways, firing ranges, rock concerts, etc., left with ringing ears and wondering what was actually being recorded.

Providing extreme isolation from outside noise and using Sony MDR-7506 drivers with special baffling, the Remote Audio HN-7506 allows accurate, full-range monitoring in loud environments and adds a high degree of protection from hearing damage while giving the user the familiar sound of the industry standard Sony headphones.

Zaxom NOMAD Recorder

I just returned from NAB and had a great time. Much has been written about the ZAXCOM NOMAD so I was suspect of how great it would be well I was blown away by the demo this is going to be the game changer that everyone said it was going to be and more. So visit Zaxcoms website for all the info it is worth a read.

X Mini II Capsule Speaker

Being a Sound mixer I am very picky when I listen to music and often when traveling I my Remote Audio Speak Easy Speaker. However I recently discovered the X Mini II Speaker a few fellow sound mixers had raved about them so I decided to order one. Under $30.00 from Amazon and WOW for the size it is great and lasts about 11 hours on one charge it charges via USB which is great as I can listen to it and charge it at the same time. The bass response and volume level is excellant. I like it so much I am going to order a 2nd one to leave on my sound cart. You should check it out
